Frequently Asked Questions

What will be the outcome?

Your first visit is not unlike a first visit to a doctor. It is not possible to provide a meaningful assessment until a complete examination of the Crown’s case is undertaken. We begin by looking for what we refer to as the “CPA” (clear path to acquittal); not every case has one. This is the first step and is followed by a review with the client. At that time, issues and options are identified and discussed. Most cases will present several possible paths forward. This stage of the case will feature frank and practical discussion of alternatives, realistic expectations, risks, and costs associated with each.

At the end of this step in the process, the client is in a position to choose the path which best reflects their appetite for risk and the steps required to achieve that outcome.

Does Sandberg Barristers offer payment plans?

Yes, we understand that the need for a criminal lawyer often comes unexpectedly. We work with our clients to be accommodating.

What is the fee structure?

Every case presents unique issues and facts. Although many cases share similarities, no two are alike. We structure our fees to meet the requirements of the case and offer a choice of two billing models—hourly or block fee. In our experience, the block fee model is often preferable.
